Western Countries Impose New Sanctions on Russia
UK Declares New Sanctions
The UK government has implemented 46 new sanctions, among them include Russian weapons manufacturers, defence importers and 3 actors supporting the Wagner Group PMC network and 4 operators of ‘Shadow Fleet’ ships utilized by Russia to circumvent oil-related sanctions imposed by the G7.
According to the UK government, these new sanctions will “disrupt Putin’s ability to equip his military through third-party supply chains in Belarus, China, Serbia, Turkey, the UAE and Uzbekistan...The move will hit Russia where it hurts and starve Putin of the resources he needs for his illegal war on Ukraine.”
Western sanctions on international supply chains have resulted in a 98% reduction in Russian imports of battlefield technology.

Canadian Ban on Direct Import of Russian Diamonds and Related Products
Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, The Hon. Mélanie Joly, announced that Canada alongside its G7 partners will be imposing new import restrictions on Russian diamonds and products related to diamond jewellery.
Canada will continue to work with its G7 and international partners to implement “comprehensive controls and verification measures” for banning Russian diamonds.
By impacting the revenues Russia receives from the diamond industry, Canada is helping to ensure that funds procured from the export of Russian diamonds and diamond-related products will not contribute to financing Russia’s war on Ukraine.
