Matthew Downey holds an MSc in the history of international relations from the London School of Economics. His research interests are centred around imperialism, political ideology, and cultural identity from the 19th century to the present, with a particular focus on Bonapartism and Anglo-French relations. 

Currently, he lives and works in Victoria, British Columbia.
